MURALS

The Chilliwack Mural Festival

In August of 2022, I was lucky enough to be commissioned by Culture.Co to create a Geometric Mural Installation in Chilliwack as a part of their Back Alley Revitalization project for the Chilliwack Mural Festival. The mural was located on the back of Lolly’s Fashion Lounge and measured a grand 30ft wide x 10ft tall. The Mural is located on Court Lane and Mill Street in Downtown Chilliwack.

As an emerging artist, being selected for a project on such a scale was an incredible opportunity for me. The thought of my artwork becoming a permanent part of the city's landscape and being appreciated by all. The owner of the space had a vision for the mural to be bright, full of life and Intsagram-able. The use of bold and vibrant hues such as blue, orange, purple, pink, and white perfectly embodies this desire, creating a vivid and eye-catching composition that will bring a cheerful atmosphere to the area.

I approached this project with a focus on geometry, colour and form, aiming to reflect the community's growth, vitality and energy. The bright hues in the mural symbolize the bright future of Chilliwack and the community's steadfast progress, sending a message of security and well-being. I used these elements to craft a dynamic visual display that would likely capture the attention of onlookers and evoke a sense of energy and life in the downtown area of Chilliwack.

The commission marked a significant moment in my career as an artist, and I am immensely grateful to Culture.Co for providing me with the platform to express my artistic voice and make a meaningful impact through my work.

Restorative Cycles Mural

In 2023, I received a commission to complete a 35-foot by 75-foot hand-painted mural for Restorative Justice’s Restorative Cycles Bike Shop in Chilliwack, BC. As part of the approval process, I was required to create detailed concept sketches and professional mock-ups of the proposed mural design. These materials were then submitted to the Chilliwack City Art Review Board for consideration. After presenting the concept and discussing how the design aligned with the values of community restoration and connection, the board approved the project. From there, I moved forward with the full execution of the mural—bringing to life a vibrant and meaningful public artwork that continues to support the mission of Restorative Justice through visual storytelling.

Originally, I was scheduled to have three weeks to complete the mural. However, due to delays in the permit approval process, the mural was not officially cleared to begin until just days before the shop’s grand opening in September. This left me with only three days to complete the entire 2,000-square-foot mural.

The 152nd Chilliwack Fair Live Mural Artist

In August 2024, I was the featured live mural artist for the 152nd Chilliwack Fair. Over the course of the event, I painted on-site, allowing fairgoers to witness the entire creative process unfold in real time. This interactive experience offered a unique opportunity to engage directly with the public, answer questions, and showcase the techniques behind large-scale mural painting. The final piece, titled “Echoes of the Herd”, is an 8-foot by 12-foot mural depicting an African water buffalo—a powerful symbol of resilience, strength, and community. The artwork serves as a tribute to endurance in the face of adversity, resonating with the fair’s legacy of tradition, togetherness, and perseverance. The mural will be displayed yearly.

I began Echoes of the Herd late Thursday night at the 152nd Chilliwack Fair, projecting the design onto the wall to trace the composition. I added modeling paste to create texture, then moved into layering spray paint and washes with durable exterior paint. As the mural developed, I embraced spontaneity—experimenting with colour, layering techniques, and building visual depth. I allowed myself to truly enjoy the process, letting the energy of the fair guide the flow. One final touch was the addition of gold leaf, which brought a vibrant, reflective quality to the piece and made it shimmer with life.
